Marshes Light To Provide Dock Spaces for Manteo Blessing-of-the-Fleet Event

MANTEO – (May 2007) The Marshes Light waterfront development will cooperate and play a small role in the 11th annual Blessing of the Fleet in Manteo Harbor on May 17th.

The Blessing will be done by the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 1607 in Manteo Harbor as part of a day on the waterfront in recognition of National Safe Boating Week.

Marshes Light will make its newly completed marina docks available to the Coast Guard Auxiliary for the needs of extra boat docks throughout the day and for the Blessing ceremony itself.

“We’re glad to be of help to the Auxiliary in this way in case they have more boats and visitors than can be handled otherwise,” said Lee Whitley, marketing and sales director of Marshes Light. “This Blessing ceremony is becoming quite a tradition for Manteo and as a waterfront development with a beautiful marina, we understand and support the importance of boating safety.”

Boaters have been asked to have their crafts in the harbor by 11:30 a.m. that day. Events start at 10 a.m. and continue through 4 p.m. “Coastie”, a 25-foot Coast Guard boat, will be on hand and there will be a flyover by a Coast Guard C-130 aircraft and H-60 helicopter.

Marshes Light is a new waterfront community made up of two and three bedroom marina villas, townhouse flats above retail space and single family home sites designed to blend with the coastal traditions of Roanoke Island. Connected to downtown Manteo by a waterfront boardwalk, Marshes Light will also feature the beautiful marina on Shallowbag Bay. For more information, visit www.marsheslight.com.
